Components of the attire: huipil and corte
Everyday wear
The huipil is woven on a backstrap loom using cotton and features geometric and floral designs hand-embroidered with acrylic threads.
Floral motifs in some Maya communities are associated with religious offerings.
The panels of the corte were woven on a foot loom and are joined by a Randa, hand-embroidered with acrylic threads.
The sash is woven on a backstrap loom, has ends finished with hand-embroidered details made with acrylic fibers. Materials: Mercerized cotton
